Thomas Cain Obituary

Mr. Thomas Cain, of Thomasville, entered the gates of heaven on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who loved his family, friends, and Church deeply.

He was born on June 6, 1931, in Bladen County, NC, to Henry Cathey Cain and Ora Blackmon Cain, both who preceded him in death. On September 26, 1953, he married Margaret Earline McCormick. They resided in Florence, SC, until 1965, when they relocated their family to Thomasville, NC. Together they raised four children. He worked for Thomasville Furniture Industries at Plant L, retiring with more than 25 years of service. He was a member of the Thomasville Church of God for more than 55 years where he served his church faithfully.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2014 and his daughter Sandra Margaret McNew in 2022. He was also preceded in death by three sisters.  

To Pop, his God, Jesus, and family was everything. Left to cherish his memories and continue his legacy are his two sons, Larry Cain, and Kenneth Cain, wife Janet, all of Thomasville, and his daughter Joyce Ferrell, husband Mark, of Kernersville, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Cain, wife Tiffany, of Lewisville, NC, Andrea Ferrell of Powell, OH, Brittney Ferrell of Cary, NC, Mariah Griffin of San Antonio, TX, Kayla Cain-Kincaid, husband Aaron, of Big Stone Gap, VA, Alexander Byrd, wife Courtney, of Thomasville, and Rebekah Durika, husband Spenser, of Goode, VA, and great-grandchildren Caroline, Logan, Paisley, Levi, and Everly. In addition, he also leaves behind a son-in-law Alan McNew, a host of dear friends, and extended family. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomasville Church of God with Pastor Alan Greene officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service as well. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Thomasville Church of God, 1200 W. Holly Hill Rd, Thomasville, NC, or a charity of one’s choice.
